Mezzo Soprano, Voice Teacher
Samantha is a mezzo-soprano and a voice teacher who is dedicated to training the new generation of singers. Her masterclass will provide a wonderful opportunity to understand the singer's work with his main instrument - the voice. There is no need to understand music or have any prior knowledge, the combination of the singer’s passion together with the understanding and knowledge of the artist creates a fascinating meeting accessible to everyone.
South African mezzo-soprano Samantha Malk enjoys an active performing career around Europe, Asia, the Americas, and her native South Africa. On the opera stage, her roles have included Dorabella, Nicklausse, Cherubino and Dido. In concert, she has partnered with musicians such as Warren Jones, the International Contemporary Ensemble and the Mark Morris Dance Group in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, Concertgebouw Brugge and Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood Music Festival.
As a teacher and mentor, Samantha has been a voice consultant for the young artist programme of the Israeli Opera since 2011 and has served on the faculties of the Brooklyn College since 2017 and the International Vocal Arts Institute and Summer Opera Tel Aviv since 2012.
She holds degrees in vocal performance from Indiana University and Manhattan School of Music. Samantha currently resides in London, England where she was appointed Deputy Head of Vocal Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2018.
