French-Canadian Claude Webster has been internationally sought after as a leading specialist in French repertoire. He has been the head coach at Montreal Opera's young artist program, Atelier lyrique, since 1997. Mr. Webster¹s diverse skills have led him to be involved at Montreal Opera in numerous capacities. He has been the pianist/répétiteur for over 50 productions. In 2007, he was appointed Chorus Master. He made his conducting debut in The Consul by Menotti in March 2011, with the Atelier lyrique. He is at ease in a vast range of repertoire, from Così fan tutte, Die Zauberflöte, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Madama Butterfly, and Turandot to Peter Grimes. In the French repertoire he has worked on Carmen, Roméo et Juliette, Faust, Werther, Les Pêcheurs de perles, and Dialogues des Carmélites, among many others. At Montreal Opera he has worked with many great artists, including Diana Soviero, Richard Margison, Manon Feubel, Stephen Costello, Aline Kutan, Karina Gauvin, Marc Hervieux, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Eduardo Müller, and Paul Nadler. Always looking for new ways to help singers, Mr. Webster has become a certified NLP coach. He has also created a stress-management workshop for singers.
